The Penn State Alumni Association

What’s been happening:

I spent my working life doing editorial work for the government and other employers including The University of North Carolina. I married Arthur Dodd when I was a senior journalism major and he was finishing his MS in meteorology at Penn State. He worked for the US Army as a research climatologist and later taught at UNC-CH. We were married for 55 years and he was a dedicated Penn Stater until the end of his life in 2004. We have two sons and a granddaughter, a freshman at Duke, and a grandson, who shows some signs of interest in meteorology. Being the first class to enter Penn State after WWII, I have interesting memories as a "farmed-out" freshman at Slippery Rock and then experiencing the friendly, large campus at Penn State where Art and I made lifelong friends. Our generation remembers the large number of returning GIs on campus, but I also remember the women at State were a bright and lively group -- most of whom graduated at the top of their Senior high school class. Being in college at the time that "the war" was finally over and the campus welcomed the returning veterans was a special experience. It was a great four years!
